Sunny time with friends

Summer Sunday – perfect for a walk at the River Eden with Frank and Kate. We parked on the bridge at Armathwaite and walked under the road and south upstream. The river levels are very low.

A short break for me to skim stones…. I got an 11-er! – not that anyone saw it! We went up a slope to an area where I haven’t walked before and found ourselves on a higher level walk overlooking the river gorge and the wonderfully vivid yellow fields opposite full of oil seed rape. Lovely. The path up there is wide and flat and one of these days we’ll have to follow it along right up to Coombs Wood. Where we rested there is a large sandstone sculpture – the artist sculpting his rucksack, boots, cap and outdoor clothing. We walked back a different way right to the front door of the Fox and Pheasant pub which is a lovely place to visit.
Frank and Kate invited us to have lunch with them in the garden and for Kate and Hector to watch the Wimbledon Men’s finale. Lovely to sit out on Franks recently constructed raised decking in the garden.
