Royal Wedding

When I was in my early twenties I was very rapt by Charles and Diana’s wedding. Was it the resulting distress and pain of a folly marriage or my getting older and cynical that took the shine of William and Catherine’s wedding?
However, I did watch the wedding and did enjoy the atmosphere. My favourite bit really was the gorgeous tree avenue at the abbey. It must have been as close as they could get to the private country church wedding that they really wanted. Makes me wish I had a way to set up a business hiring out trees for weddings now that it will be so popular. Hector and I watched it together.
The wedding dress was lovely. Demure, Audrey Hepburn-esque, and suited her beautifully. Their new titles of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is nice too. The alliterative title of Catherine Duchess of Cambridge is super. I like the pair of them, they seem as normal as they can be in their position. But the cynic in me is a bit wounded by the excessive money spent on it, though believe it will pull in more for the UK in tourism etc. At a time when most of us in the country are struggling to pay for necessities it is a bit of a sharp reminder of how different it is for those who have huge wealth. (Don’t get me started on how I think that footballers and some other ‘celebs’ are paid FAR too much)
You can’t help get taken up into the happy mood of it though and they are clearly going to be happy.

This is my favourite picture of the day…
