On 11th August we headed to near Stafford for Helene and Martins 30th Wedding Anniversary. We went via Ambleside where Rosie was to stay the night with Jane. Instead of heading straight to the B&B – High Meadows at Great Haywood (a wonderful Arts & Crafts style house) – we spent a couple of hours at Shugborough Hall. It was bright and warm and after a lovely mid afternoon small meal (v nice) we wandered down near the river where I got some photos of damselflies.
Helene and Martin’s ‘girls’ – daughters Katherine and Charlotte – had arranged taxis to pick up guests in time for the party.
I have to say it was the BEST party I have been to. Such warmth and happiness and SO SOOO good to see H & M. Copious excellent champers, real ale too. A half-hog roast kept everyone well fed. I kept an eye on the skies for glimpses of the Perseid meteor shower – I saw three. We got a taxi back to the B&B at 2.00 – feeling pretty damn cheerful.
