March and April 2017

Mum unwell.
A short post about Mum. She had a series of falls and as a result was in hospital for quite a while and not in a very good state. She is home now but needs quite a lot of new care and help. IT was a very difficult few weeks as she was so confused and distressed.
We had lots of trips to Lancaster Hospital to visit her and I went to relatives (her sister) near the Humber Bridge to let them know how she was and keep them up to date.

Spring is sneaking in and it feels good.
The garden and Eden Valley are coming to lovely vibrant life.

April
On April 1st my gorgeous honorary God Daughter Lolly gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Martha. She and her partner are thrilled. It was a thrill to meet the baby and have a little snuggle.

At home, the garden was looking lovely. All the ivory coloured tulips I planted last autumn came up and lasted well. Fills my heart with warmth.

Rosie entered her first dog show – just a fun thing for Eden Animal Rescue at Brougham Hall. She came third in her class – golden oldies!

Welcome to Freddie and Zach

Hectors niece Nicola with her wife Jo had twin boys in February. What gorgeous little chaps. Freddie and Zach. A pleasure to meet them. They are going to having an amazing life with their two amazing Mums. Traveling and sports and exciting things. Nic and Jo train Olympic Teams (Bobsleigh) so travel all over the world.

We went down to Derbyshire for a weekend to meet them when they were just a few days old.

Watchtree Nature Reserve – January 2017

Sally and I went out to Watchtree Nature Reserve so we could see the starling murmurations. Cold but sunny and with time to kill we decided to hire bikes and explore a little. With Rosie I needed a trike so I could load her in. What a hoot! We looked completely ridiculous and Sally and I laughed our socks off!
Oh. and we saw the starlings.

First ever gold crest in the garden and feeding the birds

Utterly delighted to see my first ever gold crest and it was at our bird feeders. What a gorgeous and tiny bird.

A bit of patience over the last couple of weeks or so and today my friend ‘Bobby Rob’ Robin (as I call him) quickly came to me and ate from my hand. Am thrilled at the privilege.

Christmas extravaganza

For the first time we got involved in the big Village Christmas light extravaganza. Hector made a fanatic job of installing all the many many bonkers lights I chose. We even went a bit mad decs wise in the house. H even decorated his office!
The village has a big switch on when everyone meeting in the village hall for mulled wine and mince pies then we are led through the village to each house and do a countdown for the lights to be switched on. Its great fun and a wonderful social event.

We loved making our house look so festive – here are some pics.

Christmas itself was a nice quiet day just the two of us.

6 months of catching up to do… post #1!

I haven’t updated this for 5 months (can it be that long) so this will be somewhat brief!

October 2016.
Sally and I went on a Wax Cap Fungi course at Mugrisedale. Excellent and interesting.

Autumn 2016
A colourful and vivid autumn. Trees and hedgerows looked amazing.

PreChristmasfamily gathering
Mid December and closest of my family got together for a lunch near Penrith. Had a lovely time.
