3 days – full on – very busy and very successful

I have never been so tired in all my life, but it really did go well and a few minor glitches weren’t too bad. 13 hour first day, 17 hour second day and 13 hour third day. 230 delegates and SO much going on. Some lovely lovely people. Am feeling a little proud of myself. Is that bad?

Stressed……!

A couple of days before the Conference… My lovely special friend thought I was stressed and scarily busy (my most important week at work with a big biennial Conf to take care of) and did something SO kind to lift my spirits. Thank you!!

A short walk on the other side

Its not often I walk at the other bank of the river. Just a short on in early evening bright sun. Our village as seen from the East….

A special little surprise trip

The weekend before the Conference at work I set off for a walk.
I didn’t plan to go to Pooley Bridge and I didn’t plan to go on a steamer trip. But it was such a lovely autumn afternoon I though a walk at the Lake would be great. When I got to the steamer pier there as a steamer in and I suddenly wondered if I had enough coins in my little coin purse. I was in the ticket office and the man there was telling me he’d let me on for what I had and not charge for Rosie but a lady there was very keen to pay the difference for me. Isn’t that sweet. There are some lovely people. As it happened I had enough to go to Howtown and back if Rosie went free. So, off we went. I got talking to some lovely people aboard the steamer and had a lovely hour or so to wander around at Howtown before gliding back over a still Ullswater. On the pier at Howtown before leaving I was talking to a really interesting older chap who seemed familiar and we talked about the Lakes, walks and the nicest places for afternoon tea in the Lakes. It was only later that I realised he is a broadcaster on the BBC but I can’t remember his name. Ah well. A perfect 3 hour little adventure.

Glitter run the rain

Sun just low enough to make the thousands of tiny dancing little flies show up like glitter

Saving money

To save money on Rosie’s grooming and employing posh poodle coiffuriers! I bought some professional dog clippers and watched the instructional DVD and – well – I did it myself. Not too bad a result. Not sure how Rosie feels about it.

Maconie from a banquette

On 5th October Hector and I went to the Brewery in Kendal to listen to Stuart Maconie chatting on stage. VERY entertaining. Well worth the trip.

calm before a busy storm

Just as I left the office – all frazzled and done in – a little Robin was singing his heart out near the car in that wonderfully exuberant way they do. Couldn’t help smiling.

yikes

So, they next time anyone hears me say “I’m just popping Rosie to the vets to check out a couple of minor things” would they PLEASE stop me and remind that it will likely result in a bill – to date! – of £351.57! Nothing major, just little things, but mega-meds! (now that – what can I sell……)

LOVE this quote!

A man only needs 2 things in life, WD40 & Duct tape! if it should move and doesnt, use WD40! If it moves and it shouldnt, use Duct tape!

Mule gimmer lamb sale (20,000 of them!)

Heard about this on TV and felt it worth a short drive to take a look. Local dialects, noise, famers and of course the 20,000 sheep.

The busiest week at work I have ever experienced

The big biennial Conference this month and I have never been so busy at work before. SO much to do. 230 delegates, 83 conference programmed events, accomm, dinner, literature, blah blah.
I got very nervous about it and in the event it went well.

Full moon in the Churchyard

The skies have been lovely – especially at night with a full moon

clearing up the overgrown garden

I filled an ENTIRE green wheelie bin with the remnants from ONE clematis that I disentangled and cut back from the wall and overpowering 2 trees. A veritable jungle it was.

I love this time of year

It might be raining a lot and it might be chillier but the golden fields can look amazing.

Rosie has a small op

So, on 26th September Rosie had a small op (though in the end the bill was £357!!!!) to remove something from her gums. She coped well, but what with that and the bucket (10) meds she will need for various minor ailments I am reeling from the bill. Bless her – she is worth it.

Charlotte on the TV

At the end of September Charlotte – the daughter of very good friends was part of a very special wedding event. She was interviewed for a local BBC news item.
She’s at 1.09 minutes….
