A very sad day indeed. Like all her friends I will miss her immensely, but her family will be heartbroken. God bless her and God bless them.

Fire in the sky licking the clouds

Fire in the sky licking the clouds, originally uploaded by Fi in Eden.

The sky last night was amazing. I took this from the front doorstep at around 6.30. Its a wonderful time of year for sunsets and sunrises.

My afternoon in the garden!

Didn’t know which I liked best *3, originally uploaded by Fi in Eden.

There I was….
.. just finished the last of my unread Henning Mankell "Wallander" books….
…… while stretched out on a warm sunny September afternoon…
…. in the garden and …..
… I looked up into the sunny yellow flowers.

Rubbish woman driver

Would the inconsiderate woman driver of a silver estate driving WAY too fast for tiny country roads near Drybeck between Armathwaite and Wetheral Shields at 7.40 this morning kindly note that as she forced me to try to avoid her by swerving into the banking at the road edge and flew past me, she damaged my wing mirror!

If I had been driving as fast as her we would have certainly hit head on…..

I’m going to keep an eye open for you!

A few days in Alnwick

He and Fi water distortion, originally uploaded by Fi in Eden (camera got some damage so not taking a.

Just 4 days away – 3 nights in Alnwick at the Georgian House. We love Northumblerand and I have hankered after seeing the much admired Alnwick Gardens and Castle AND always wanted to eat at the Treehouse restaurant.
After so many weeks of terrible weather it was perfect from as soon as we set off!
On the way stopped off at a butterfly house (near Stockton on Tees) The butterflies were like darting fitting fairies and a real delight to be among. Then an hour or so at the surf edge on the beach at Druridge Bay.
An Italian meal on the first night and on the next day dawned with bright clear skies so we had a walk to the gorgeous Alnwick Gardens. Heaven!
Dinner later at a pub in the town.
On the second full day we spent several hours at Alnwick Castle. Its so well kept and really interesting. We had a snooze on the clipped lawn before I had a go at Archery.
Dinner that night was at the exquisite Treehouse Restaurant in the Gardens. Food that leaves you melting and surroundings that are a joy.

Sis in the topiary

Sis in the topiary, originally uploaded by Fi in Eden.

After a nice visit to Hayes and Sis and I having cake and coffee with Mum there, Sis and I went to Levens Hall to see the stunning and 300+year old topiary gardens. And have a ride in tiny traction engine train. Fun!

Under the Pennines – hay barn

Hay barn, originally uploaded by Fi in Eden.

I might be on leave from work and it might be raining hard EVERY day, but I used a short cessation in the downpours to have a little drive out towards Melmerby. Having a walk along a country road or two was a delight.
